Foxtail Forge & Farriery, a multi-farrier practice based in Lafayette, IN, is home to Danvers Child, AFA CJF. A life-long horseman and a practicing farrier since 1972, Danvers specializes in shoeing sport and performance horses.
In addition to his home practice, Danvers travels extensively, as a farrier and as a consultant and specialist for farrier concerns. Most recently, he served as a supervisor for the Official Farriers at the Alltech FEI 2010 World Equestrian Games; additionally, he serves as an Official Farrier for the RK3DE (Rolex Kentucky 3-Day Event).
A proponent of continuing education
and voluntary certification, Danvers is one of 18 Approved Examiners in the American Farrier’s Association’s (AFA) certification program and conducts clinics and workshops for the farrier community throughout North America. He also serves as Editorial Director for the AFA and as Editor of Professional Farrier magazine. In 2010, he received the American Horse Publications (AHP) award for Best Instructional Article, Honorable Mention for the AHP’s Overall Excellence Award, and the AFA’s Journalism Award.
In addition to his work within the farrier community, Danvers maintains an active role within the larger equine community. With his partner, April Raine, he owns and operates EquiDesis, LLC., an equine-focused media and marketing company. He produces and reviews articles for numerous publications and serves within a variety of organizations, including service as a board member for the Certified Horsemanship Association.
